VoIP Phone (Idea)

Idea stage: VoIP Phone is a concept, not an available business phone system. The current ToolbagCRM screen is a placeholder; you cannot turn on calling, provision a number, or manage voicemail here. The scope and workflow may change before release.

VoIP Phone is being considered as a way to handle business calls alongside customer work in ToolbagCRM. It is distinct from the AI Receptionist idea, which explores automated call answering. Neither idea provides a working calling service today.

When this might be useful

A shared calling workspace could help an office that needs a business number, a way to see missed calls, and context for following up with customers. If your team relies on a separate phone provider today, keep using it: this guide is for evaluating a future option, not replacing your current service.

Plan your calling needs

Before a future rollout, decide:

  • Which business numbers your team needs and who owns them. Do not port or cancel an existing number based on this preview.
  • Who should answer during business hours and how you handle after-hours emergencies now.
  • Whether staff need calls on mobile phones, in a browser, or both.
  • What consent, retention, and access rules would apply to call recordings or transcripts in your area.
  • How your office should identify a customer when a caller's number does not match a customer record.

Possible future workflow

If the idea becomes an available feature, a calling workspace might let authorized staff configure numbers and answering rules, handle calls, and review call history. Number provisioning, extensions, ring groups, recordings, transcripts, and links to customers or jobs are not available in the current screen. Their final behavior, provider support, pricing, and availability have not been established by this preview.

A useful future call-history view would let the office distinguish answered calls, missed calls, and voicemails before deciding who should follow up. Do not assume every call would automatically match a customer or job; shared numbers, blocked caller ID, and new customers need a review path.

Current availability

The Idea placeholder does not offer number setup, an in-app softphone, call routing, call logs, recordings, or voicemail management. Keep your existing phone and voicemail process in place. An Idea listing in Marketplace is not an option to install or a commitment to ship these capabilities.
